Marriage & Family

The loss of a loved one—whether a parent, a spouse, a child or a good friend—can be one of the most devastating and painful experiences in life. It is an unavoidable reality that all of us will experience at some point in our life’s journey. As the old saying goes, time heals. Yet my observation through the years is that time itself is not the solution. I have seen individuals who still grieve for a loved one many years after their passing. So what else do we need to combine with time? Marriage, Parents, Losing A Loved One, Losing A Child, Spouse, Marriage And Family, Loss, Grieve, Parenting

The Orthodox Faith contains within it a rich visual, aural and tactile world for both children and adults to explore. Our worship services are incredibly layered; they weave Scripture and song together into the dance of liturgy. Our iconography plays a key role in this liturgy by facilitating worship and revealing the basic principles of our Faith. Growing our children’s visual literacy and understanding of faith using icons is a powerful tool at our disposal. Dance, Worship Service, Liturgy, Preaching, Scripture

It may begin with asking the intercession of St. Anna, the mother of the Theotokos, or the Lord Himself for a child because of difficulty conceiving. Once that happens, think about how many different prayers expectant parents can pray. Lord, Foundation, Prayers, Prayers For Children, Expecting Parents, Prayer, Prayer Quotes

We also love the topic of “vocation” for it allows us to take a big question that youth are often stumped over, “What will you be when you grow up?” and get to the real heart of the matter.
